Italian singer-songwriter Marco De Luca has released La Stagione Decisiva, his fourth album following Stanze Remote (2006), Due (2008), and Canzoni Inedite (2012). The new record consists of eight tracks and presents a stronger use of keyboards and a more psychedelic rock-oriented sound compared to his earlier works, which were more closely associated with new wave and dark influences.

The album includes five previously unreleased songs together with three tracks originally drawn from the repertoire of Sine, the band with which De Luca performed until 2000. The songs Videospazzatura, Il Mostro, and Un Uomo Gentile have been revisited and rearranged to fit the overall sound and atmosphere of the album.

La Stagione Decisiva is conceived as a protest against modern society and some of its most troubling aspects. Each track focuses on a specific social theme, creating a collection of songs united by reflection and social commentary.

The album opens with Videospazzatura (“Video Trash”), a song about what De Luca describes as the “television of pain,” where human suffering is exploited in order to attract audiences. Il Mostro (“The Monster”) addresses the fear created by ignorance toward what is perceived as different, and how that fear can lead to racism.

Another track, La Festa (“The Party”), tells the story of a young girl who is mocked and ostracized by her peers. Alla Deriva (“Adrift”) focuses on people living on the margins of society, forgotten individuals who are gradually drifting away from public attention. 15 Anni (“15 Years”) deals with the exploitation of minors.

Un Uomo Gentile (“A Kind Man”) portrays a gentle person living in an unkind environment. Aspiranti Modelle (“Aspiring Models”) explores the subject of prostitution, while Il Giorno (“The Day”), the album’s closing track, reflects on the theme of war.

A notable aspect of the project is its entirely personal production process. The album was written, arranged, and recorded entirely by Marco De Luca in a studio, making it a deeply personal work from conception to completion.

With La Stagione Decisiva, Marco De Luca delivers an album that combines psychedelic rock elements with a series of reflections on social issues, offering listeners a musical journey through themes of discrimination, exclusion, exploitation, and conflict.
